Energy charges — the biggest slice
Units consumed × your slab rate, usually 60–70% of the total. Your slab depends on your category (lifeline, protected, non-protected) and total monthly units — and since Pakistan applies a single slab rate to all units, edging into a higher slab reprices every unit, not just the extra ones. See tariff rates.
Fixed charges
A monthly charge tied to your sanctioned load in kW (printed on the bill). For 2026, NEPRA set domestic fixed charges from Rs 200/kW (protected, lower slabs) up to Rs 675/kW (higher slabs). Lifeline consumers pay none.
Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA / FCA)
Fuel costs move every month, so NEPRA permits a monthly adjustment — sometimes an extra charge, sometimes a credit. One month's fuel cost usually shows up on a later bill, which is why no calculator can predict FPA exactly.
Taxes and fees
- GST — 18% on the taxable part of the bill (energy + fixed + FPA and most other lines).
- TV fee — a small fixed monthly amount collected via electricity bills.
- Surcharges — financing-cost and similar surcharges appear as their own lines on some bills.
- Meter rent — a small monthly charge where the meter belongs to LESCO (not every consumer pays it).
Due dates and the late surcharge
Two figures matter most: payable within due date and payable after due date. Miss the date and a surcharge is added; keep missing and disconnection follows. The due date is the most important number on the bill after the amount itself.
The meter-reading section
Units = current reading minus previous reading. If the bill says "estimated" or "average" instead of an actual reading, the units are a guess from past consumption — you can ask for an actual reading or submit a meter photo through the Power Division's Power Smart app.
