What you'll see on the result screen
- Consumer name, address and meter number — always the first thing to verify
- Billing month and bill number
- Previous vs current meter reading, and units consumed
- Amount payable within due date and amount after due date (with the late-payment surcharge added)
- Payment history — recent months at a glance, handy for spotting an unusual spike
When something goes wrong
"Invalid reference number"
Nine times out of ten it's a typo. Check for a dropped leading zero, and make sure you typed digits only — no spaces, dashes or trailing letter.
The page won't load
The PITC portal has maintenance windows, often around bill-generation days. Give it an hour, then retry — or try another browser.
Someone else's name on the bill
Stop right there and don't pay. A single wrong digit lands you on another consumer's bill. Re-check your number against a physical bill.
This month's bill isn't there
Bills roll out on a cycle. Until yours is generated, the portal shows last month's. Brand-new connections can take a full billing cycle to appear online.
Reference number or Customer ID?
Every LESCO bill prints both: the 14-digit reference number (for online lookup and for paying via banks and wallets) and a 10-digit Customer ID (also accepted by the lookup form — just switch the search option). Both are permanent for your connection. Save the reference number in your phone and you'll never hunt for a bill again.
